Hyatt introduces hypoallergenic rooms

Asthma and allergy sufferers should now find welcome relief during their travels with Hyatt introducing hypoallergenic rooms into selected US hotels.

The new 'Respire' rooms feature specially-treated mattresses and pillow cases plus a dedicated air handling system that releases anti-microbial agents into the room. Hyatt claims the measures will eliminate up to 98 percent of airborne bacteria.

Respire rooms carry an additional US$20-30 per night levy and are currently available in about 60 Hyatt hotels, with plans to extend the rooms into all Hyatt properties across the US, Canada and the Caribbean.

What do the airborne anti-microbial agents do to your trachea when you breathe them in all night?
