Virgin Australia rolls out new Velocity Double Points offer

Virgin Australia is once again dangling the proverbial carrot to its Velocity Frequent Flyers, whose ranks have just hit an 11 million member milestone, by unveiling a fresh Double Points offer on all eligible flight bookings made by December 14.

To start rolling in the points, you simply need to visit the promo page, enter your Velocity membership number and hit activate, then book a flight before midnight on the 14th. You don’t have to jet off before then though, as the travel period extends out to October 31, 2023.

Virgin’s latest double-dip is sure to be of interest to frequent travellers, with members earning 10 Velocity Points per $1 spent, instead of the normal five. That can make a big difference.

As an example, a one-way business class fare from Sydney to Melbourne in mid-February will set you back around $349, with the bonus points promo netting you a cool 3,490 points.

So what are the details?

• Double Points are available on all Virgin Australia-operated domestic and international short haul flights and fares, excluding Velocity Reward Seat bookings.
• The offer applies to bookings made before 11:59pm Monday 5 December 2022, with a travel period until 11:59pm October 31, 2023.
• Codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines are not eligible for this offer.
• Bonus points will be allocated up to four weeks after completion of your flight.

Those hoping to score double points on their Silver/Gold/Platinum member bonuses will be disappointed however, with the double points applying only to the base earn.

Points are redeemable on reward flights, hotel stays, and car hire, as well as online shopping.

Virgin Australia and rival Qantas also offer double status credits at various times of the year too.
