Park Regis Singapore welcomes first guests this week

Singapore gains yet another smart business hotel this week with the opening of the Park Regis on November 16th.

It’s the first Park Regis outside Australia but not the last, says homegrown StayWell Hospitality Group: additional properties will roll out the welcome mat in Dubai and Kuala Lumpur early next year.

Simon Wan, CEO of  StayWell Hospitality Group, says he sees “enormous growth potential for the Park Regis brand in Southeast Asia and we are confident that the debut of our new hotel in Singapore will help pave the way for more properties to come.”

The Park Regis Singapore ticks pretty much all the business travel boxes. Newly built at 23 Merchant Road, the Park Regis’ location at the junction of Boat Quay and Clarke Quay (and a stroll from the Clarke Quay NE5 MRT station) is handy for both the Raffles Place and City Hall business hubs. And like almost anywhere else in Singapore it’s a short and cheap ride in an air-conditioned taxi to downtown and the Orchard Road strip.

The hotel’s look is that of a ‘city resort’, with tropical trees overhanging the pool deck which looks across to Clarke Quay. The interior of Park Regis Singapore is designed by Australian firm Woodhead, which also worked on the interior of Changi International Airport terminals 1 and 3 and the sweeping glasshouse of the Singapore National Library.

Standard rooms are fitted out with the obligatory 42 inch flatscreen LCD TV and broadband Internet, which costs SGD$30/day unless it’s bundled into your room rate.

Opening specials start at SGD$212 for the ‘Express Room’, which is a compact studio room with a view of the building next door.

For SGD$269 the Park Rooms include free Internet, while SGD$292 lands you in the larger and better-equipped Merchant Room with a view of the city skyline, free Internet and buffet breakfast for two people (or one very hungry American).
