Qantas Cash gets faster reloads, direct deposit

Qantas Cash users will now wait only one business day for their funds to clear with the introduction of electronic bank transfers.

Replacing the POLi system, customers can now send funds across from their regular bank account to the Qantas Cash facility, with access to the money via Qantas Cash on the following morning.

That’s particularly useful if you’re jetting off on a last-minute business trip or need access to a little extra cash when abroad.

Your Qantas Cash bank account details can be found by logging in and selecting ‘Card & Personal Settings’, followed by ‘Unique Payment Details’.

The existing reload limits still apply, which sees travellers able to top up their accounts with amounts between $50 and $20,000.

There’s also the option kick start a foreign currency reload through the Qantas Cash website, where you’ll be able to get an exact amount in Aussie dollars to transfer from your bank.

Both the desktop and mobile versions of the Qantas Cash website support electronic funds transfers for foreign currency purchases, although it’s not yet available through the Qantas Cash mobile app.

Customers using the app could switch to the Qantas Cash mobile site when stocking up on foreign dosh, or could simply transfer an amount from their bank account and assign it to a particular currency later on.

To enjoy overnight clearance, bank transfers should be made by 2pm Sydney time – anything send across later in the afternoon could take an extra day to process.

BPAY remains a reload option, although it may take 2-3 business days for funds to appear in Qantas Cash.

That’s particularly slow if you’re heading away for the weekend – boosting your balance by bank transfer on Thursday at lunch time would see the money arrive on Friday morning, ready to spend on Friday night and beyond.

Using BPAY during that same lunch break might have you waiting for your money until Tuesday morning in the following week, which is a little slow.

Like BPAY, reloads completed by bank transfer are fee-free, unless your own bank levies a charge.

Appears that this is just a transfer to a normal account, that is somehow linked more quickly to the card than BPAY.

My unique BSB is 880-1***

And Account  is 9000*****

I'm not quite sure why this is much different to POLI albeit I think POLI used a transaction ref rather than seemingly a unique account number.

My Unique BSB is registered to Heritage Bank, Toowomba

Mine also has a Heritage Bank  BSB (880-1##).

And a similar account number (9000#####)

I think they have arranged for a unique account to be attached to each card...the mastercard facility is provided by Heritage Bank, so it's not surprising they have made this arrangement.

I also think all QCash cards will have the same BSB...it's no different from AusPost and their "Load and Go" prepaid visa cards, which also have Heritage Bank handling the back end. Their BSB is also 880-100.

For the arrival of this facility, about time! The earn rate for points isn't fantastic, but still comparable to most QF visa/mastercard cards which are not Platinum. At least this will make payment via the "book now pay later" option using QCash practical.

It is much better than Poli because not only is it more secure (most banks discourage Poli because it has the inherent risk of exposing your online banking login to a third party), but it also leaves both BPay and Poli dead in the water when it comes to speed. Accessing my funds in 1-2 business days, and with a method more secure than Poli, win-win.

POLi is instant on Virgin's prepaid card and on almost every other site in Australia including Jetstar and Virgin. I think Qantas was the only place it was not.
