Qantas offering double status credits, frequent flyer points

About to make a Qantas booking? Check your email inbox first, because you could end up scoring up to twice as many status credits or frequent flyer points on your trip.

Qantas is now sending out an email blast for a 'Choose your reward' promotion, which in an interesting twice asks travellers to choose between the extra serve of status credits or points, depending on which you value the most (and need the most).

Some Qantas Frequent Flyer members are getting a 100% bonus deal while others are reporting a more modest 'get 50% more' offer.

But as is often the case with these promotions, it's not open to everyone – if you don't get the email you're not eligible for the extra points or status credits.

Here's the skinny on the The Red Roo's red hot offer:

  • It applies to domestic and international flights on Qantas carrying a QF flight number on your ticket, including codeshares with Emirates (the official wording is "any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Qantas Points or Status credits are normally earned"
  • Your flights must be booked between 25 February and 10 March 2014 (new bookings only) for travel from 25 February to 25 May 2014
  • You need to click a link in the email to register for the promotion  – if you don't register you won't earn the extra points
  • There also also some restrictions on the class of ticket which is eligible for the deal, so if you get the email read the fine print and make sure you're not booking in an invalid ticket class.
