Qantas partner Air France adds new business seat from Singapore

Qantas passengers connecting in Singapore for the Red Roo's codeshare flights to Paris have an upgraded business class seat to look forward to on Air France's Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 planes.

It's an incremental update of Air France's previous 2010 seat, with small increases to length, width and personal space that add up to a respectable set of improvements.

Now over two metres long and 61 cm (24 inches) wide, the airline is calling it a "full sleep seat" -- though it's still an angled lie-flat seat, not a fully flat bed.

So what's changed? An Air France spokesperson explained to Australian Business Traveller, "the architecture of the new seat was completely rethought to bring more comfort and simplicity: introduction of a fixed foot rest, new bed angles, additional stowage, simplified seat controls, et cetera."

More than half of Air France's long-haul fleet is already equipped with the new business seat, with 61 percent planned to be outfitted by the end of 2012.

Why would an airline introduce an angled Business Class seat in this day and age? If you look at the first photo - imagine trying to stumble over him if you are in the window seat and wanting to get out. Doesn't look like an enticing product at all! I think I'll stick with SQ.

As you wish, but the article is for the information of those who wish to use Qantas and its partners.

Thank you John.

Um... Okay John... But that doesn't stack up anymore either since Qantas ended it's codeshare arrangement with Air France after the Emirates deal came through.
