Qantas to boost Sydney-Hong Kong flights for Christmas, Chinese New Year

Qantas will fly twice-daily from Sydney to Hong Kong on select dates in December 2014 and February 2015 to cater for strong demand over the Christmas and Chinese New Year period.
That includes a one-off Hong Kong-Sydney flight on Sunday December 21 as QF88, return services from Sydney to the Asian hub on both February 18 and 19 2015 (QF87/QF88), and a one-way Sydney-HK run on February 27 as QF87.
A Qantas spokesperson confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that these seasonal flights will be operated by the airline's newer, reconfigured Boeing 747s.
They come fitted out with fully-flat, A380-style Skybeds in business class, plus refreshed premium economy and economy cabins.
The Red Roo is also supercharging a number of its existing Sydney-HK flights in February and March next year, replacing the usual bird with its flagship Airbus A380.

I know Qantas has 8 A380 orders postponed but I think they should keep them coming, they could become in very good use for routes such as Hong Kong, Singapore and possibly Shanghai.

Too big. With routes like SYD-HKG, it's better to have a second aircraft so you can run a day flight and a night flight each way. With the revival of the QF87 number, I'm fairly sure the additional flights are following the old timing, which was to leave SYD just before curfew (2225) and arrive in HKG dead-early (0500+1).

Yes and no doubt at least one of these services will be on an A333 before the end of 2015...
