Qantas to discount business class tickets for Aquire members

Members of the Qantas Aquire business rewards program will soon be able to save as much as 10% on the cost of Qantas domestic and international flights when travelling for work purposes.

From July 28 businesses will be able to secure the ‘Aquire Flight Deals’ discounts when booking through their preferred travel agent or directly on the Qantas website, after entering special login details that will be made available to new and existing Aquire members.

Here’s what you could save and how early you’ll need to book:

  • Business class and premium economy: 10% discount on the base fare on selected flights when booking at least 10 days in advance.
  • Economy: 5% off the base fare on selected Economy Flex tickets when booked at least seven days before travel. No discounts on the already-cheaper on Economy Sale, Economy Saver or Red e-Deal fares.

The Aquire-only discounted fares will be highlighted on the booking page, such as when planning a routine hop from Sydney to Melbourne:

Compare those reduced costs to the normal sticker price and members would save $146 in business class (or $38 in flexible economy) on a return journey:

Qantas Loyalty CEO Lesley Grant said that on other routes, businesses could save over $950 on a return Business Saver fare from Melbourne to New York or London, and around $150 on a return Economy Flex journey between Sydney and Perth.

Travellers will continue to earn Qantas frequent flyer points for themselves at the usual rates, while businesses will benefit both from reduced flight costs and also from Aquire Points which are awarded when their employees travel.

Those Aquire Points can later be converted into Qantas frequent flyer points on a 1:1 basis, and are earned for the business in addition to the frequent flyer points awarded to the traveller – you don’t have to choose one or the other.
