Qantas to offer iPad 2 loans in business lounges

In Brief | Visitors to Qantas domestic and selected international business lounges will soon be able to while away the waiting time on a borrowed iPad 2.

Following trials of an iPad loan programme at Sydney and Melbourne lounges in May this year, the airline “will be rolling out (the iPad 2) across all domestic business lounges and also the Sydney and Melbourne international business lounges”, Alison Webster, Qantas Executive Manager for Customer Experience, tells Australian Business Traveller.

“Sydney’s domestic business lounge has them now and the rest will be on a staggered rollout between November and December.”

To get their hands on Apple’s touchscreen tablet, passengers must surrender their boarding pass and Qantas frequent flyer card.

Last week, Qantas revealed plans to test the iPad as an in-flight entertainment device, using wi-fi to stream content to the tablets from a central server on the aircraft, during a six-week trial starting late October.
