Singapore Airlines joins Virgin Australia's Accelerate program

With Singapore Airlines now a partner of Virgin Australia’s ‘Accelerate’ program, small and medium sized businesses have a great opportunity to purchase discounted fares to Asia, Europe and beyond. We run through the program and the benefits for small to medium size business owners, and how you can take advantage of them.

The Accelerate program offers many benefits to businesses ranging from discounted flights through to cut-price Virgin Australia Lounge memberships and a fast-track to Velocity Pilot Gold for you and your employees.

There’s no fee to join Accelerate, and your road warriors continue to earn their own Velocity Points and Status Credits - even on selected discounted flights.

With the addition of Singapore Airlines, as well as coverage with Air New Zealand, Delta Air Lines and Etihad Airways, Accelerate now covers the vast majority of popular business travel destinations from Australia – so if you’ve got an active ABN (excludes superannuation funds) and have a valid Australian street address, it’s the perfect time to join the program.

Instant benefits

Unlike a frequent flyer scheme that requires you to earn points before reaping the rewards, the Accelerate program provides compelling benefits as soon you join up – namely, discounts of up to 10% on a wide range of fares and fare classes, and sometimes even more during promotional periods.

Further, unlike other airline programs there are no advance purchase requirements so you can book and immediately fly.

For those looking to travel on Singapore Airlines to international long-haul destinations, the program offers discounts on Business class fares and Economy Freedom fares.

There is a 10% year-round discount across business class fares booked in selected I, D, C, and J classes, while for economy Freedom fares booked in L, K, H, B, and Y classes you’ll knock 5% off the fare price – and a current promotion will land you an extra 5% discount on those fare classes, making Accelerate even more attractive.

Fast-tracked gold status, travel credits

Instant flight discounts aren’t the only benefit of Accelerate - spend at least $2,000 on eligible flights through the Accelerate program in the first three months (including on discounted tickets) and you’ll receive two Velocity Pilot Gold memberships – giving you plus one other person Velocity Pilot Gold status.

That brings about a number of perks, including priority check-in and priority boarding, airport lounge access and 75% more points on Virgin Australia flights, without taking the usual path from Red to Silver to Gold.

Velocity Pilot Gold lasts for three months and if you earn at least 80 Status Credits during that time and take at least one paid VA-coded flight, that’s pushed out to an entire year.

The Accelerate program also offers annual travel credits - spend $20,000 each year on eligible VA-coded flights and you’ll receive 2% back in the form of a $400 travel credit, with travel credits going all the way up to 5% when spending a minimum of $250,000/year.

It’s important to note, however, that flights on SQ metal won’t be counted towards your Annual Travel Credit expenditure.

Win points

To celebrate the addition of Singapore Airlines to Accelerate, Virgin Australia is offering temporary increased discounts in Business and Economy Freedom and Elevate fares. In addition, you could win your share of 1 million Velocity Points* – sign up for the program here.

More destinations than ever

With no joining fees or ongoing membership fees, Accelerate is an easy way for your business to instantly save money on your flights and gain a huge number of benefits with minimal expenditure – and now with the addition of Singapore Airlines to the program, there’s even more destinations covered for business travellers.
