Singapore's Changi Airport releases iPad HD app

Singapore's Changi Airport has jumped into the iPad era with a lush large-screen HD app dubbed iChangi HD... and if you've got an iPad and will be spending any time at Changi we reckon this freebie is worth grabbing.

Hero features include real-time 'push' flight notifications which pop up on your screen to provide the latest status updates on your flight, including delays and gate changes - along with the baggage belts for incoming flights.

Stretching your legs in one of Changi's three terminals? Pull up the 360 degree maps with visuals of the airport's popular facilities and attractions such as the five themed gardens, the 24-hour Entertainment Deck, rooftop swimming pool and even the rooms at the Transit Hotels.

"Changi’s airport maps, an important feature commonly used by passengers, have been enhanced on this app to provide more detail that is easy-on-the-eye" says Steve Lee, chief information officer for the Changi Airport Group.

If you're keen to partake in Singapore's twin national past-times of eating and shopping, the app will also serve up information about retail and dining promotions in the airport.

Here's a video clip of the iChangi HD app in action.

iChangi HD is a free download from iTunes, along with the companion smartphone app for the iPhone,  Android and BlackBerry.
