Sofitel Adelaide gears up for a September debut
Albeit three years behind schedule, South Australia's newest five-star hotel is set to impress.

Adelaide will be home to a much-anticipated Acccor hotel by the end of the next quarter, with Sofitel Adelaide set to open its doors in September.
Originally set to make its debut in 2018, the launch comes three years behind schedule: but there's every indication it's been worth the wait.
Situated on Currie Street in the city's CBD, the property will offer 250 rooms and suites across 24 floors of a 32-storey mixed use tower, with the top eight floors home to 80 private sale apartments.
Hotel guests can unwind at two bars, the French-inspired in-house restaurant, or can hit the marble-clad swimming pool or fitness centre for their daily workout.
Add to that a ballroom, meeting and conference rooms, and a signature Sofitel Club Lounge, giving the hotel appeal with both business and leisure travellers.
"Sofitel Adelaide is one of our biggest hotel openings of 2021 and its level of luxury and onsite amenities will ensure it’s one of Adelaide’s most illustrious new destinations," said Accor Pacific CEO, Simon McGrath.
"Distinguished by its bursting calendar of cultural events and flourishing passions for gastronomy, fine wine, music, fashion and design, Adelaide is an ideal destination for our Sofitel brand."
Greeting guests as they arrive is a flowing (and red wine-inspired) chandelier, charting a path into the lobby and the lounge bar.
Guestrooms come stylishly appointed with elements of cathedrals from both Adelaide – the City of Churches – and France, the Sofitel brand's native territory.
Suites offer even more space to stretch out, blending old world detailing with new world styling, in a nod to French colonial style.
Rates begin at $350/night, with members of Accor Live Limitless able to earn and spend points at the hotel, and enjoy their usual tier benefits such as free Internet access and room upgrades, as applicable.

How has Adelaide got a Sofitel and in Perth we dont have any decent luxury Accor hotel….. Come on Accor Perth needs something decent not another Ibis or Novotel

Perth has a lovely Ritz Carlton which no other city has right now though.

Yes it does, and after staying there last weekend, Ritz Carlton was fantastic, pool spa, and not that much more expensive than Sofitel Adleaide is charging, and its situated at elizabeth Quay - for us Adleaideans, the area where the Sofitel Adelaide is located is quite grungy with not much around except Hindley Street in the evening

I was talking about Accor not having a decent luxury hotel in Perth. With have many lovely hotels just none by Accor, and as a platinum ALL member that annoys me

Sofitel Brisbane is terrible and the Melbourne one is a little old, so that would likely justify it.

stayed Sofitel MEL in May on a free Accor Plus night Nice room UPG to Studio with Club Millesime access for evening canapes and breakfast Great room with great views - a little tired, but not everyone wants the plastic "modern" chipboard Me thinks owners Palumbo Corp need to recoup their investment, since Sofitel Group have done very well in ADL as quarantine hotels and perhaps this could become a quarantine hotel soon once we see the massive surge in COVID cases here in ADL - would suit the "returning" permanent residents nicely - Just my 5 cents worth

They'll drop their prices once the hype drops, Oval hotel and Mayfair also started with high prices and dropped pretty fast to fit into the SA market better.
More important for the Sofitel is that the Vic and NSW border stays open cause Adelaide is relatively poor so a luxury hotel like this can't really count on staycation guests regularly IMO.

Just checking out offers - this is way overpriced for Adelaide, but I guess it could become a Quarantine hotel so Palumbo group can recoup some of their massive investment - Accor Plus shows opening offer of $900 for 2 nites Its not even listed under Amex FHR in SA, only Mt Lofty House where I stayed recently on a free AccorPlus nite in Conservatory Suite, Last weekend in Perth at Ritz Carlton for 450 Amex Plat Credit + $79 AUD for 1 nite with 12 noon checkin, AU$140 credit (spent at Hearth lounge) free bfast for 2 up to $49 each in Hearth Restaurant and 4pm checkout, and free upgrade (got a Larger Studio with Eliz Quay and City Skyline Views ) so IMHO wait or go to Perth for a nice property like Ritz Carlton or go to Mt Lofty House Sofitel ADL is not showing ANY Free Nights for Accor Plus members Its a bit like the overpriced Hotel Indigo at ADL Central Market - Marriot Group Hotel i think Way overpriced

I doubt it will become a quarantine hotel; the building is mixed use and has already sold many residential apartments in there. Any new owners are going to cause a ruckus because they've paid very high per sqm rates on residential property in that building and will not be happy sharing the building in anyway with quarantine guests. In any case judging by NSW and Vic moves quarantine will likely be history by 2022.
You're right it's expensive but I think they'll drop their prices pretty fast to fit into the market here. I'm looking forward to trying the restaurant there (Accor Plus member benefits) but not overly excited about the hotel otherwise.

Sorry but there is ZERO chance the most expensive new hotel in Adeliade would become a quarintine hotel, just 0 chance. Overpriced yes, but that doesn't mean anything.
I've seen them posting job hirings for this hotel for the last few months, so it's definitely gearing up towards consumers - expect bonus deals once SA opens its borders.
