Starwood to open Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands hotel
A Four Points by Sheraton hotel is bound for Melbourne Docklands, with the new-build Starwood property set to open in January 2017.
Located in the newly developed Digital Harbour Precinct in Melbourne Docklands, it will form part of the landmark and much anticipated Marina Tower Melbourne.
With 251 standard rooms and 18 suites, all guests can earn and redeem Starpoints through Starwood Preferred Guest while enjoying views of either the stunning harbour or the city skyline.
“As the country’s second most populous city, high hotel occupancy rates and a key Australian city for both leisure and business travellers, we have been actively seeking to establish the Four Points brand in Melbourne for some time,” said Andrew Taylor, Director, Acquisition & Development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Pacific.
Three food and beverage venues are to include a signature restaurant, a deli-style cafe for quick bites and the hotel’s signature bar for guests to enjoy a great local beer as part of the Four Points Best Brews program.
Additionally, the hotel’s recreational facilities will include a gym, a 25-metre outdoor heated swimming pool and an outdoor deck.
Flexible meeting and function areas cater for conferences and smaller meetings, with 530 square metres of dedicated space.
Close to Etihad Stadium and Southern Cross Station, the Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands is approximately 20-30 minutes’ drive from the airport, with the CBD just a short walk or tram ride away.
Docklands boasts several kilometres of Yarra River and Victoria Harbour water frontage lined with apartment buildings, restaurants, retail outlets and open space for hotel guests to enjoy.
The new Melbourne hotel comes as part of Starwood’s aggressive expansion plans in Australia, which has already seen the opening of Four Points by Sheraton in Brisbane and the Sheraton Melbourne hotel this year.
Starwood's portfolio continues to grow, with two new-build hotels destined for Perth – including the Aloft Perth Rivervale in 2016, and the Westin Perth in 2017.

Will we ever see the Amex SPG co-branded card like the US, Canada and UK?
With the number of SPG properties coming into place, it'd be a great addition to the Australian portfolio. Hopefully at $1 to 1 SPG points on everyday spend just like their foreign counter parts and bonus for paying for SPG bookings.
Current Membership Rewards transfer is 1 MR to 0.5 SPG is rather not transfer worthy conversion...
