Thai Airways reveals packed 507-seat A380, retrofitted Boeing 747s

Thai Airways is planning to fit 507 seats into its new Airbus A380s, putting it on par with Malaysia Airlines and China Southern in the superjumbo squeeze stakes.

Thai has revealed its A380 floorplan allows for 435 seats in economy -- the most of any A380 customer bar Air France's 449 economy seats -- with 60 business class seats and just 12 first-class berths.

The A380s's upper deck will be given over to premium passengers with all economy seats to be found downstairs.

Thai's first Airbus A380 will take to the skies in August next year but sadly, those skies won't be the ones over Australia. Major European destinations including Frankfurt and London Heathrow will be up first.

Meanwhile the airline's fleet of Boeing 747-400s are also slated for an update, with new economy seats featuring personal video screens.
