Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse offers Samsung tablet to guests

Virgin Atlantic’s swanky Clubhouse at Heathrow is adding touchscreen tablet computers to the menu – but has chosen Samsung's Galaxy Tab over the more popular Apple iPad.

The Galaxy Tab is a smaller device than the iPad, with a 7 inch screen against Apple's 9.7 inch display, and runs Google's Android operating system – to date seen mainly on smartphones from the likes of HTC and Motorola – rather than Apple iOS.

Passengers can grab a Tab from the reception counter in return for handing over their boarding pass.

In addition to the standard tasks of checking emails and browsing the web, the Galaxy Tabs will also feature Virgin Atlantic's Clubhouse menus.

Once you've ordered your pre-flight snack or cocktail you can sit back and watch a pre-loaded movie, read an ebook or magazine or play a game on the tablet.
