Virgin Australia offering double Velocity status credits

Virgin Australia offering double Velocity status credits

IN BRIEF | Virgin Australia is running another double status credits promotion that'll help travellers fast-track their way to Gold or Platinum status or retain their current status for the next 12 months.

But there's a catch: the offer is open only to selected Velocity members who receive an invitation email from the airline.

The email's gone to many AusBT readers who are Gold and Platinum, but several others report a 'no show' as yet.

However, some emails are still being received by Velocity members so this is clearly a progressive rollout of the offer – so keep an eye on your inbox!

If you're among the fortunate frequent flyers then you'll earn twice the usual number of status credits for travel booked and flown from March 27 to June 30.

Don't forget that you can also score a 15% point bonus if you transfer bank reward points from your credit or charge card into your Velocity Frequent Flyer account before March 31.

David, any idea on what the profile is of people targetted? I have been waiting for a promotion like this, have not flown much as yet but intend to do so in the next few months so this would be a welcome promotion!

KG: no idea, some of them are status-matched Golds & Platinums while others are 'self-made' Golds and Platinums. One has already achieved sufficient points to retain Platinum for his coming membership year.

However, it's worth noting that some more Velocity members have this afternoon received the invitation email (myself among them) so this is clearly being rolled out wioth a second wave and maybe several more to come - so fret not, and keep an eye on your inbox!

I just got the email... though I'm concerned that it won't apply to my existing bookings which I made prior to 27 March, but fall within the travel period.  Any idea if "book and fly between 27 March and 30 June" will be strictly adhered to, or if it's just "fly"?

The rules very clearly say "book and fly", and nobody but Virgin can speak for Virgin regarding adherence to those rules.

David, also got lucky this afternoon and received the mail (I am a status matched plat with around 360sc on Virgin thus far). good timing, just qualified for QF Plat until next year June and will now top up my Virgin account. wonder if this offer in the end went out to all Velocity members (golds and plats)

Does this offer only apply to domestic travel, or is it extended to international travel on partner airlines? I'm going SYD-ZRH in June so if it applies to partner airlines travel it would be good to muster an invite from VA. I'm 'self-made' gold, almost platinum and I didn't get an offer.
