Fifty-two Australian banks and credit unions now support digital credit and debit card payments via Apple Pay, but is your card issuer among them?

At the forefront: American Express Australia and ANZ, both early adopters of Apple Pay and which allow customers to link their credit or charge card to their iPhone or Apple Watch, and make contactless Apple Pay payments at the scan of a fingerprint or the click of the button.

Eligible American Express personal and business cards include:

Over at ANZ, customers can use Apple Pay with the bank’s Mastercard and Visa products: a roster that includes the ANZ Qantas Frequent Flyer Black, Platinum and Classic cards; ANZ Rewards Black, Platinum and Classic; ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures and all ANZ Visa Debit cards too.

Further afield, HSBC, Macquarie Bank and Latitude Financial are also on board, covering cards like the HSBC Platinum Qantas Visa, the Hilton Honors Macquarie Platinum Visa and the 28 Degrees Platinum Mastercard.

The list continues with Bank Australia, CUA, ING and RACQ, plus Australian Unity, Bank of Sydney, Credit Union SA, Customs Bank, Defence Bank, Firefighters Mutual Bank, MyState Bank, Police Bank, Police Credit Union, Sydney Credit Union, Teachers Mutual Bank and Woolworths Employees' Credit Union (although not Woolworths Money).

Joining those are Beyond Bank Australia, Big Sky Building Society, CAPE Credit Union, Catalyst Money, Central Coast and Central West Credit Unions, Community Alliance Credit Union, Community First Credit Union, First Option Credit Union, Goldfields Money, Goulburn Murray Credit Union and Horizon Credit Union.

The list continues with Central Money Credit Union, Holiday Coast Credit Union, Intech Credit Union, Laboratories Credit Union, Lombard Finance, The Mac, Nexus Mutual, Northern Beaches and Northern Inland Credit Unions, Once Credit, P&N Bank, People's Choice Credit Union and Select Encompass Credit Union.

Cards from South West Slopes Credit Union, The Rock, UniBank, Unity Bank, Warwick Credit Union and WAW Credit Union also now work with Apple Pay, although big names like Commonwealth Bank, Citibank, NAB and Westpac are yet to support the technology.
