Qantas points when flight changed to new carrier

Hi All - Question.... I was on a Qantas flight and it was cancelled and put on Cathay flight a few hours later.

Will I receive the full status and FF points the Qantas flight would have given me or the smaller amount that Cathay give (approx half…. Would be 120 Qantas Status but will only be 60 according to the calculator).

As Qantas made the change, you can claim the higher QF points if this isn't done automatically. The points will be as per the Qantas ticket booked.

I'd suggest that you call Qantas for advice on how this needs to be processed.

When speaking with Qantas I think you need to request the "Original Routing Credit" to get the points and status credits that you would have received on your original QF booking. If you google the term "Original Routing Credit" you should get a few hits which go into more detail.

You'll definitely get the QF level of points and SC. Qantas thankfully are fair in these circumstances.

Yes, that has been my experience too - I've never had any issue claiming Original Routing Credit with Qantas.

Hi All, For anyone interested I have done the trip and credited at the lesser rate of the Cathay flight. Have lodged to QFF team and will share the outcome.... all being well will have an answer by Christmas!

Amazingly resolved already.... email a few hours later saying it was will be credited (and it has been)!
