I'm flying to Queenstown in New Zealand from Sydney on Jetstar. I have Cathay pacific Marco Polo Diamond membership. Does anyone know if this will allow me in the QF First Lounge? especially because JQ is not a one world airline? Called QFF service centre and their answer was "maybe, you'll have to check with the lounge staff on the day"

No access for any oneworld status members when flying JQ. Only for QF status pax.

No access I'm afraid under the oneworld lounge access framework. Specifically:

  • The oneworld lounge access rule states "... Members of oneworld airline frequent flyer programmes with the equivalent of oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status can use lounges offered by oneworld airlines when departing on any flight marketed and operated by any oneworld member airline, regardless of cabin class being flown..."
  • "operated by oneworld member airline" as defined by oneworld is limited only to those by the carrier and its oneworld recognised affiliates
  • Jetstar is not a oneworld recognised affiliate (as opposed to Dragonair, which is a oneworld recognised affiliate)

If I were you I'd fly on the Qantas service to get access to the lounge since JetConnect is a oneworld recognised affiliate.

If they can't answer on the phone, then being am optimist, I'd say you have a chance...

Is it a Qantas codeshare flight? I know sometimes QF and JQ have codeshare, possibly only to destinations QF doesn't fly... But that could help? Doesn't hurt to play dumb, they'll err on the side of cauton rather than offend.

The original ticket was booked through Qanats and the return is a QF flight but on that day the only direct service is Jetstar. Its ticketed through Qanats (having a ticket number starting with 0-81 for both legs). I think i'll prob just have to go and try it or just use the business lounge through my Qantas club membership.
