Has anyone flown on the refurbished QF 747 across the Pacific in Economy? What is the experience like? Comparable to the A380?

By interior looks yes. I scored a window seat at the back where the 747 has sets of 2 seats instead of 3. There is no self serve fridge at the rear unlike the A380.

I like the nostalgia of the 747,  but the A380 is a better flight experience.

Unless you were into the picky little differences you would not notice the difference

But yes there is a self serve snack bar on the 747's but it's never used on asia flights so never had the chance to try it out

The 747 IFE has a few less features like you can't make sat phone calls etc but apart from things like that it is similar

My favourite economy seat on the QF 747's row 55 seats D-G and despite what the seatgurur website says on all the 747 flights i have been on they do recline and you can stay reclined during the meal and sometimes take off and landing (depends on the crew)

I find the experience mostly similar. I prefer the seats further back with only two by the window- the windows get the extra storage and it generally feels roomier. As a whole not too differerent, minus a few perks perhaps such as the A380s lower cabin pressure and self serve bars but not widely different. Enjoy your trip!

I was on VH-OEH (Hervey Bay) not across the Pacific, but over Antarctica a couple of weeks ago. My research tells me that's a refurbished one, but as that has been my one and only Qantas flight I have no baseline to compare it to. One thing I didn't like was the touch screens that (on mine at least) required enough force to appear to make it uncomfortable for the person in front. We've already talked about that already, but repeated here for the benefit of others.

I've done OEG and OEE. The Y seats are tolerable enough. The experience is comparable when it comes to the seat and so forth, but the cabin is still that of a 744 so it's still loud and dry compared to the A380.

TRB, are you weighing up the morning A380 vs the afternoon 744?

Indeed I am. Planning a departure on Christmas Day and it seems that QF93 is not operating that day. I wonder if the First lounge does Christmas themed meals?
