Can I please get recommendations for a suitable pair of over-ear, active noise cancelling headphones for Mrs D and me. Our emphasis is on noise cancellation & comfort rather than sound quality. We rarely fly longer single legs than MEL-SIN & never overnight, so sleeping with them on isn't relevant. We're heading overseas in 5 weeks, so we're able to take advantage of the GST Refund Scheme. I would prefer to keep the net cost per set below $250 if possible. Thanks in advance for all responses.

These headphones hush ambient sounds by creating frequencies that obviate the noise at your ear. They won't eliminate everything, but the better models significantly reduce the whoosh of airplanes' air-conditioning systems and crowd chatter. Noise-canceling headphones come in all forms, from full size to ear buds, and since you no longer have to crank up the volume to overcome background noise, this type of headphone lets you listen at lower levels. You'll also hear more low-level detail in your music.

My recommendation....Bose Quiet Comfort 15...

Bose QuietComfort 15s currently offer the best sound and silencing capabilities in a pair of noise-canceling headphones.
