Singapore/Silk Air Excess baggage rules. I recently flew from Melb to Kota Kinabalu on Singapore airline tickets although the last leg was flown on Silk Air. I have Gold Alliance status (not Krisflyer) and had excess luggage coming across - this was not a problem. On the return leg Silk Air has charged me 500 Ringget although I am still on a Singapore ticket - does anyone know if this is legit. I have not talked to Singapore airlines yet. thanks

The excess baggage charge each way between Australia and Malaysia is USD30/kg.
