if Qantas FF program was more like virgin velocity (meaning less opportunities to earn points due to less partners etc) would the general public be a lot less supportive (financially) towards Qantas. It seems (on Qantas facebook page anyway) people want to fly Qantas but do not want to pay Qantas prices and are always comparing Qantas prices to other airlines. I understand people should vote with their feet/wallet and go elsewhere, but do people want to fly cheaper (cake) but want to do it on Qantas due to qff points (eat it too)

There's plenty of points-earning opportunities with Velocity. 

It is simple more people would with fly with QF if there was a compelling reason to do so - price, customer service, frequency etc. Plus most people commenting on facebook pages are a pack of whingers that generally should be ignored.
