I'm trying to decipher Qantas status credits for travel on American Airlines. This has been hard so anyone's help is greatly appreciated! The question comes up as the details, on the qantas site, could be read in two ways:

1 - the american airlines earning points page says that fare classes B, H, K, Y are economy. This implies that flights booked into these classes earn qantas status credits at the full economy rate. The page is here: http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/airline/american-airlines

2 - the qantas status credit page implies that fare classes B, E, G, H, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S, and V may be discount economy. They definitely are when its a qantas flight but is this the case when its booked as american airlines? See the small print on this page: http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/status-credits

For example, if you book as fare class H on american airlines SYD to LAX (codeshare on QF plane) under scenario 1 you'd earn full economy status credits. On scenario 2 discount economy status credits.

Thanks for any help - I couldn't unfortunately find an answer in the other threads so hope this is not duplicating someone's already answered question.

In this instance, it depends on the flight number on your booking, not the operating carrier.

Therefore, you'd earn the point & status credits based on the information on the AA partner page, unless your flight was booked on/after March 29th for travel on/after July 1st in which case the new earning rates apply.

diverse,

The details you require are listed under the airline partner section of the Qantas website. Specifically, click on the link to the AA page on the Qantas website.

This page details the booking inventory (Y,B,H, K,L etc.) which are classified as Economy or Discount economy.

The Status Credit earn rate then follows (again the status credit page link on the Qantas website).

Now, if your question is with regards to the Status Credit earn rate post 1 July, then you are right; the details on the Qantas page does not appear conclusive. The way I read it, post 1 July, only the Status Credit earn rate for QF and JQ will change. Qantas does not seem to say either way if the Status Credit earn rate will differ for OW partners post 1 July.

If I understood reports from AUSBT regarding these changes correctly, details of Status Credits earn rate for OW partners would be released at some point in the future. Am I right?

TRB, status credit earn rates for non JQ/QF flights are listed here: qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/fairer-flying#partner-airlines
