Flying next Thursday SYD - LAX with AA in First Class. Does AA offer the same ammenities as QF on the route. I read that AA is allianing their products and services with QF but from what I have read that hasn't happened so far?

Hi Martin, see our comparison here:

Sydney-Los Angeles first class comparo: Qantas vs American Airlines

(Since that was published, a new walkway has opened at LAX between T4 and TBIT, so if flying AA first class, you could walk over to TBIT and use the Qantas First Lounge, before returning to T4 ahead of your flight, without the need to clear security in between.)

We also have a separate AA first class flight review for added detail.

Martin,

I sent you a link detailing the AA First class service but its being held for moderation.

Check in after a few hours when/if the post has been authorised for publishing.

More like a few minutes. ;)

We have our own review linked above, but different writers look for different things and write for different types of audiences, so there's never any harm in reading multiple reviews for multiple perspectives.

Agreed!

For me though, if you're paying QF First fares, then fly QF.

AA First is fine, but not at those prices.

Qantas A380  versus American 777 ? Give me Qantas any day.Apart from the aircraft type, Qantas on board service is light years ahead of any American carrier, including AA.

In F on this route I'd be inclined to choose QF but if in J then definitely AA hands-down for the superior seat.

When I was booking the flights, QF website directed me to the AA code share BUT when retuning I will be on the QF A380 in F. Best of both worlds really ;-)

Some have suggested ex-LAX QF catering is not as good as ex-AU.

But you'll have the QF LAX lounge for supper, which is very good and will only really have breakfast.

I should imagine breakfast is hard to mess up!
