Although obviously there aren't any Frequent Flyer points to be gained staying in Overseas Clubs they present I feel a more personal level of service than staying in Hotels
Most Clubs require you be nominated by an existing member but there are exceptions
The Royal Overseas League has a reasonable list of reciprocal Clubs from about 29 countries that you can apply to visit
I've stayed at the Standard Club in Chicago which was excellent and reasonably priced and right in the CBD and next to the Metro
The membership subscription depends on which State you reside in, I pay $30 per annum
Another excellent Club is the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh which has reciprocal Clubs in over 40 countries
If you are interested in visiting a particular Club that isn't on your Clubs reciprocal list email them and ask if its possible to visit with a letter of introduction from your non affiliated Club. This worked for me in Atlanta
The Rand Club in Johannesburg offers an outstanding list of reciprocal Clubs and membership subscriptions are very reasonable
