I am looking to book some flights on EK that do not depart from, or arrive in Australia (specifically India to Dubai, and back).

I am QF FF and keen to maximise SC and points earn, and I presume the best way to do this would be to book the flight with a QF flight number, but the QF UAE site does not allow me to search for 'purely international' flights.

I presume that this means it's impossible, and that I'll just have to book directly with Emirates on an EK flight number, and just add my QF FF details to the ticket, and accept the lesser earn rate.

Unless there is a trick I'm missing?

Qantas doesn't have traffic rights from any Asian cities to Dubai except for Singapore so unless it's to/from Singapore they can't legally sell tickets on a QF codeshare.

So it would be possible to fly India - Singapore - Dubai but this would be much more expensive and require a lot of backtracking so I'd only do it if retaining/earning QF status is important. The other way would be Sri Lankan airlines via Colombo which is a Oneworld airline so you'd at least earn a few status credits and some more points.

In both cases you'd end up paying more but again if status credits are very important then it could work out worth it.

Understood and thanks for the help. No, they're not crucial for status retain so will just go direct.
