I'm travelling to KUL via SIN on QF connecting to 3K in Y as a QF WP. Now the ticketed allowance is 30kg with an additional 20kg for oneworld Emerald which would not be applicable on the SIN/KUL sector as 3K is not oneworld.

My question is, if I purchase the additional 10kg on the Jetstar website for $16, would QF honour the 40kg luggage allowance for through check to KUL? (or would that update the allowance I see under the 3K sector on the QF website - which currently says 50kg SYD/SIN, 30kg SIN/KUL).

The S$25/kg at-the-airport-price-gouge is definitely out of the question..

I've done a similar QF-JQ route but mine was BNE-SYD-HNL with the first BNE-SYD operated by QF and then the following SYD-HNL by JQ.

At Brisbane, the bags were through checked and they seemed to be aware that I'd pre-purchased luggage on Jetstar so I guess they have that info in the system. I've also done a Delta to Air NZ connection and simply showing the ticket with the Air NZ allowance was sufficient for Delta to through check the luggage.
