Hello, first time poster. I'm Platinum and recently used several Velocity gift cards to buy a flight. Correct SCs were credited but no points. Now they advise me that instead of V flight points with the Platinum bonus, I will only get about 3600 points for $1200 worth of flights. Is that right? Was planning to buy more gift cards (to get flybuys SCs). But will reconsider if points are so low.
You probably booked getaway fares which don't give you any extra points as platinum (or gold, or silver), which is rubbish, but that's what Virgin does nowadays.
The method of payment (i.e. gift cards) shouldn't affect what points and SCs you get. Those are all dependant on the fare you purchase and MichaelS correctly mentions that there's no bonus on Getaway fares.
