I went to Longreach for its celebration. The village had a public holiday, school children performed in choir and band, service organisations were present, and there was cake - a decorated one for show and patty cakes for all attendees. David Fysh (clearly some relation of Hudson) and Tony Martin cut the cake. The museum was open to visitors and free n the day. All in all it was a gentle homely celebration. Worth travelling from Brisbane.
