Seriously what on earth is Qantas playing at.... sending me "your itinerary has changed" notifications, needing to "accept the changes" in the app. When I check the changes, it's simply QF11 SYD/LAX is now departing at 10:16am instead of the original 10:15am... What sort of user experience are they trying to improve here other than wasting my time with nonsense?
The most likely reason is that the 1-minute change triggers the IT system to check the booking to ensure it meets the new 90 minute connection change (https://www.executivetraveller.com/news/why-you-need-more-time-between-connecting-qantas-flights).
I'm sure your answers are quite possible 🙂 but that does not explain away the stupidity. I think we'll conclude they have a screwed system, or human error. Or both. As they later emailed me with a "system email" to say "here is a summary of changes and no need to worry we've sorted everything for you" with the before and after showing exactly the same thing i e. No change at all. And lo and behold it's back to 10.15 both in that email and in the app! I predict some rookie thought 'ill just key in this time so it sorts in my list better' and meanwhile it's automatically telling an A380 load of pax that they have a 1 min later departure. Lol.

The stupidity?! Implementing a system control to ensure everyone's connection is updated (if required)... doesn't sound stupid to me. Might not be the most perfect / ideal outcome, but to ensure full coverage at short notice (for flights in the coming days and weeks), doesn't seem that stupid.
I always worry about the change notifications mostly because they don’t always tell you all the changes. Time departure or arrival is easy enough but if different equipment and others may not be so obvious although it may not trigger the notifications unless you lose the F class seat (due to equipment change) to a J class
Since the previous booking is no longer available due to the changers (that triggers the notification) you literally have to pull the itinerary or previous email to see that’s the original setting

This may be due to two things:
1. The 90min transit limit they brought in, may impact few passengers, even if this is a minute apart
2. It is always best to notify these changes, as the app and everything else people use may get updated to show true departure times
