I’m planning to fly from Brisbane to Beijing in Business Class later in the year. Which airline would be the best, both cost and product wise? I’m not too keen in connecting in Guangzhou or Shanghai, as this will be my first trip into China.

Your best bet will be CX or QF via Hong Kong.. Good English speaking place and a great airport with good lounges. Then a connecting flight through to Beijing with Dragonair (a oneworld member through Cathay),  Both airlines have good business class offering.. CX wins in my view as the beds are fully flat.

Whilst I agree on the CX / QF / KA suggestion above, I do think the "cost conscious" part of your question is not adresssed, because CX is pretty expensive compared to some others. Obviously I do not know if you want to fly a certain airline due to your FF program, but if not here are 2 other more cost conscious options:

If you do not want to fly CZ, I would opt for MH via KUL. Great fares, decent service (not full flat on the BNE-KUL leg, whereas BNE-HKG would be, but hey, that is the trade off to save some bucks). KUL is easy to navigate and groun servcies are good. I think you can get to PEK on MH for about 3500aud in C whereas CX would charge you double at least.

You could consider flying via ICN with KE, dayflight going to PEK will get you there the same day, return is overnight but with a flying time of around 9.5 hours you will get some shut eye. Fares also very decent.

Do let us know what you book in the end!

Just flew this route! I went BNE-SYD-HKG-PEK with Qantas connecting to Dragonair. It is a little more expensive than the rest but if you go QF8-QF127 to HKG you get the Qantas fully-flat bed all the way! Just make sure you travel on a day that the A380 is flying QF127. They connect your luggage straight through onto Dragonair and the cabin was new, and identical to CX's regional cabin but in Dragonair colours. It turned out to be the fastest way too. Would definitely recommend. Good luck!
