Apologies for the blank post. This is only my 1st long haul business class trip, SYD-KUL-CDG with Malaysia Airlines. Am I allowed to visit any lounges apart from MH's? I don't have any status.

enojet, I suggest you visit the oneworld website for more accurate information. However I've included an excerpt from the oneworld website below:

"oneworld lounge access for First Class or Business Class customers

Indulge yourself before departure in a wider range of airport lounges when you fly First Class or Business Class with anyoneworld member airline.

  • Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status. First Class passengers may use a Business Class or frequent flyer lounge if a First Class lounge is not available.
  • First Class passengers may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline.
  • Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:
    • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul* and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).       (* a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours)
    • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
    • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight"

There had been a policy in the past where non-status pax flying in First/Business not being allowed to use other oneworld carrier lounges. It would appear from the excerpt above that is no longer the case.

Having said that the only lounge you really want to go to at KUL is the MH lounge. The CX lounge offerings at KUL is paltry.

At CDG, MH operates out of Terminal 1, where MH has provided the use of the Air France Salon Premiere lounge, which by online reviews appear to be quite poor - AF's main operations is from Terminal 2. The 2 other oneworld lounges at CDG are also at Terminal 2. The CX lounge there is new and rather good - it's a pity MH does not operate from Terminal 2!

Lastly with SYD, I believe you should be able to use the QF lounge. Give it a go - they can only turn you away. But I suspect they won't.

Cheers! I'm pretty optimistic that they will not turn me away based on the above statement :)

Would I be allowed multiple entries to the lounge? I have more than 12 hours in KL and would like to venture out to the city during the day.

Yes I do not see why not. Good idea to use the shower as you arrive then wander out to get some local Malaysian fare. I do not rate the F&B offerings at the MH lounges to be exceptional. You will however need to go through Malaysian immigration as you leave and enter (as opposed to just crashing in the lounge for 12h). I believe however that there is a fast track lane for immigration at KUL.

Qantas Int Business Lounge rules:

International Business oneworld Customers

Next onward flight that day must be on a oneworld operated and marketed flight.#

No guest allowed.

Since we're on this subject. Waiters at the QF First lounge would always ask your flight number when taking meal orders. Is this so that they can appropriate the cost to a specific Qantas flight or in the case of a oneword carrier, bill them for it?

Does anyone know?

P.S: Sorry to hijack this thread! So glad though there is no pesky moderator telling me to take this somewhere else!

The only time I've been in the QF First lounge, I don't recall getting asked for my flight number. Perhaps I've forgotten.

It's so that the kitchen and wait staff know which customers to prioritise.

You will have access to Malaysian lounges but only status with MH/oneworld will allow entry to other lounges.

Enjoy your trip, all the best!
