Has anyone tried connecting through SYD from a QF domestic flight to REX?

Has anyone tried connecting through SYD from a QF domestic flight to REX? Presumably if both flights are purchased on the same ticket by a travel agent bags can be checked through so it's just a case of getting yourself from T3 to T2. Previously I have used the VA / REX combination as they are now aligned but I carry no status with VA so would prefer a QF / REX combination if possible. I don't mind switching terminals unless it's with my checked baggage.

I flew Rex from King Island to Melbourne and connected to a QF flight to Brisbane. They were very clear at check-in that they'd only check luggage onto a VA flight, with 60 mins MCT- no exceptions. I had to pick up luggage and re-check with QF but i've heard QF are more lenient.
