Transfer of baggage at Changi. I am arriving on TZ1 from Syd and leaving on Jetstar asia the next morning to HKT. I am staying at the airside transit hotel and have 1 piece of checked luggage. I understand I cannot go landside as I wont be able to get to the airside hotel. Can I wait until morning to cross immigration and then check in again? What will happen to my bag? Or can i get it transferred by luggage services to my new Jetstar flight? I can web check-in for 3K so will have a boarding pass. Any help would be appreciated.

TZ and 3K do not have an interline agreement so neither airline will transfer your luggage.

Changi Airport advises "If you are travelling with a budget (low-cost) airline or you are travelling on two different airlines and your baggage is not checked through to your final destination please proceed to clear Arrival Immigration, collect your baggage (if any) and clear Customs before checking-in at the respective terminal for your connecting flight." - http://www.changiairport.com/en/passenger-guide/transit.html

That said, your best bet would be to head to Terminal 1, Transfer Desk C (which is airside) and speak with Jetstar staff. Hopefully they'll let you bag drop early (though Jetstar advises that Bag Drop for flights open 2hrs before departure).

I'd be interested to hear how you go with this! Good luck :)

I recommend that you do not abandon your bag on arrival.

Jetstar Asia has early check-in that is open until 2100 each evening. TZ1 will arrive well before this so quickly take the Skytrain over once you've arrived and proceed to the early check-in counter for your HKT flight (which I assume is 3K 533). This should allow you to check-in and proceed airside the night before, allowing you to sleep in the transit hotel before your onward flight in the morning.

However, I should warn you that there is no definite word that I can find that explicitly confirms that you can actually check in the night before before 2100, so I strongly suggest you ring up Jetstar Asia's Singapore phone number, +65 6543 0881, and confirm this ASAP before you try doing it.

I don't see why they won't let you do it, but if they still say no, you will either need to go hand luggage only (or buy Scoot's extra cabin bag) or find a new hotel outside the transit area.

I rang Chagi Airport and they said it was common practice to stay overnight and clear customs in the morning and that my bag will be stored in the lost/found counter. Then I should clear customs after my hotel stay and get my bag. Confirmed by Changi information line and a few online sources. At most airports that is worrring but my faith in Changi knows no bounds.

I will report to you how it all goes. At least if it all fails and my bag gets destroyed by bomb squad I will have a story to tell about not what to do.
