I'm looking to take advantage of the AAdvantage point bonus when buying miles and would like to book a return flight from HKG to LAX. However I would prefer to fly AA's oneworld partner Cathay instead, could anyone please tell me how I would redeem this flight online? As Cathay does not show up as an option when booking on AA's website.

You cannot redeem this online. You will need to call AA to make a booking on the phone. Any fees will be waived because this booking is not available online.

To find availability, sign up to BA's Executive Club (put your home address as Singapore, U.K. US etc) and use the BA Executive Club award booking tool to find CX availability. You can use the tool to find QR and MH availability too.
