US Visa Waiver Programme. The Democrats in the US Senate are proposing limitations to the Visa Waiver Program, due to the weak link in Europe as a result of Isis-returnees. Would the Australian government lobby Washington to exclude Australians from such exclusions, given our tighter border rules and new nationality-stripping legislation?
I know there was a lot of argy-bargy about new legislation. I wonder if a clear message from Washington would resolve minds. It certainly would mine! Particularly when we've worked hard to integrate and assimililate ethnic communities into the broader Australian community, through a managed immigration programme and a well-rounded naturalisation/citizenship framework. Unfortunately the same can't be said for parts of Europe.
As i understand it from an individual involved the Australian Goverment is currently lobbing for some exclusions in the existing program that would see little change to most Australians. There is also an on going lobby to improve pre-clearance to the extent where by you would be admitted to the US upon departure from Australia, thus walk of the aircraft as you would a domestic flight.Given current events who knows wrere all this go.
