Because people missing flights and having to have bags offloaded is more annnoying..
That said I do wish SYD Intl would zone announcements... eg All announcements in duty free/ retail, but those waiting at Gate 8/9 dont need to hear everything

Airport announcements annoying.
Why in Sydney we still have boring boarding announcements is beyond me. Many airports are silent why not all Australian airports?
