Interline Agreement NZ&EK

Does anyone know if EK & NZ have an interline booking agreement? I am looking at flying over to NZ. Was looking in regards to adding a GFML to my partners booking for meals for both airlines and wondered if this was possible? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

Not as far as I can see.

Air New Zealand has code-share agreements with:

Etihad / Air Cailin / Air Raratonga / Air Tahiti Nui / Air Vanauatu / Cathay Pacific / Silk Air / Virgin Australia / Virgin Atlantic / Jet Airways / Fiji Airways and Aerolineas Argentinas.

They are also a STAR Alliance member with the other 24 members.

They do both have an Interline Ticket agreement but you won't be able to book an Emirates Flight on the Air New Zealand but a travel agent/3rd party online booking site will be able to put both airlines on the one ticket.

Emirates will be able transfer baggage to an Air NZ flight both on the same ticket or a different ticket but Air New Zealand don't like doing baggage transfers and will often refuse unless both are on the same ticket or you have status/high cabin class with them depends on the check-in agent.

In regards to the meal you will need to submit a meal request for each flight separate so it really does not matter if they are on the same ticket/booking. The easiest option is to book separate tickets and when check-in arrives just ask for the bags to be transferred through.

After you've booked your tickets use your booking number and login to both the Air NZ and Emirates websites selecting the meal preferences for both airline.

Many thanks for the above, henrus - always happy to be corrected, when in error.

Just out of interest - can I ask where you found this info? I physically checked the Air NZ website and specifically queried 'interline' in their search box. All that was returned was 4 results - the most descriptive was their 'Co-operation Partners' (read codeshare). The other results were (History - Eagle Airways), International Cargo (Airfreight) and Baggage (allowances broken down by region).

They won't post the interline partners on their website but any travel agent platform can tell you, Expert Flyer is one of those which is Free for the first 5 days then $99 a year and highly worth it.

Air NZ website is not clear at all and whilst its true you can't book an Emriates flight on the Air NZ website you can book the two airlines on one ticket by using an external booking system (Webjet, Expidia) or a travel agent.
