I'm after advice on the best lounge at HKG. I'm flying in first on CX and am weighing up between the Pier and Wing..I''ll have 3 hours to kill so maybe both??

The Pier first class is way better than The Wing first class, I coul happily spend all three hours right there - but yeah, a little lounge sampling won't hurt if you've the time and inclination. Our run-down of HKG airport lounges for CX/QF/Oneworld may help: http://www.ausbt.com.au/hong-kong-lounge-guide-for-qantas-cathay-pacific-and-oneworld

Definitely The Pier! Far more spacious, quiet and more options.

Do the comparison test and let us all know your opinion later.

While the new Pier is amazing, and I agree on the whole better than the Wing, I do like the open space of the Wing on the balcony, watching the goings on at Gates 1-4

So I thought I'd provide a bit of feedback from my HKG lounge hop!

Keep in mind we had our daughter (18 month old) with us so it was more of a food and drink adventure than a business visit.

We tried the Wing First and Business lounge. The Qantas Lounge and The Pier First Lounge.

Firstly the Wing. Personally I didn't like the Wing, yes it has a great view but we noticed a big lack of service from the staff. The exception was the staff member in the Champagne bar who was great. The offerings in the restaurant were great but a little too fancy pants. I'm a bit of a foodie but I'd rather a high quality Wonton Soup than Sea Urchin with Caviar. We sampled the self service snacks, had a quick drink and walked along to the Business lounge. Although it was a lot busier it had a friendlier feeling. The food was ok but very small servings.

Next was the Qantas Lounge. It's a great space with multiple areas to hide! We ended up right down the end and had a whole section to ourselves. The view from the lounge is great and the lounge has a very open yet private feel. The staff were friendly and there was a great selection of Aussie wine from the self service bar. Sadly the noodle bar doesn't serve food until 16:00, we were there at 13:00 but there was a buffet area with mainly salads and vegetable dishes.

The next stop was The Pier First lounge. I loved the Pier, the restaurant is much bigger than The Wing and the food was brilliant! I had my Wonton soup which was exceptional along with a few other dishes. The wine selection was great although I'd rather an Aussie red over a French one any day!
After our meal we visited the bar, it's got a nice view of the airside area even though the lounge is underneath the main level of the terminal. The bar staff whipped me up a great Espresso Martini and we really enjoyed the snacks from the self service pantry. The day suites are an excellent private oasis, not suited to us (with a toddler) but if travelling on my own I'd certainly spend some time there!

Overall the Pier is by far the best of the lounges we visited. The Qantas lounge was the most family friendly and the Wing was ok but I wouldn't use it again. The other consideration is the gate you are flying from. HKG is a massive terminal and it's a long way from The Wing or the QF lounge to the far gates (36-71)
