Does anyone have both the AmEx Platinum Edge and another direct- or bank-issued AmEx card? I recently added the Plat Edge to my existing Velocity Escape and Westpac Altitude Black, and it has only a single AmEx Offer, as opposed to numerous (mostly consistent) for the other two cards. Is this standard or a glitch?
Sometimes offers are targeted towards specific card types, or may have already reached their user limit. As you've only just added the card, perhaps wait and see whether brand new offers appear for your Platinum Edge as they appear for your other cards.
I've had a total of 4 different platinum level direct issue cards over the last few years (not all at the same time) and I found that if I activate a card just after an offer is announced, I won't get the offer on the new card. It seems the card has to be active before the offer is announced, so it might take a month or two before you get into the full swing with the offers. Also, as Chris said, different cards attract different offers. I currently have the platinum, the reserve (no longer issued) and the David Jones platinum and I used to have the Velocity one, and this combination represents a good spread in the product line at that same level. All are targeted at different customers and while there is perhaps > 50% overlap in the offers, there are many offers that only appear on one or two cards.
Thanks, all. I had wondered about the one available offer which predated my receipt of the card, but it may have started after the card was issued and in the mail.
Not sure if the Platinum Edge gets fewer offers, but it does seem that the AMEX Offers are quite targeted. My colleague and I both have the same AMEX issued Platinum card and we 'see' different offers each month, with about 40-50% of the offers in common. He lives in Sydney and I live in Canberra. Eg, in June he could see the Hilton $50 off offer, but I couldn't.
We've found a work around though :) If you go into the AMEX app (at least the iPhone version), then Offers, then Explore Nearby Offers it wii overlay on a map all the offers. From here I could scroll the map to Sydney, click on the drop pin for Hilton Sydney and save the $50 off offer to my card.
