Just wondering what the easiest way of getting access to the international lounges at Melbourne, abu dhabi and paris are on the ticket above (I need to build up points without flying before then)
It seems easiest to get Virgin gold status (with credit card and flybuys etc )rather than etihad gold but not 100% if this allows me access.
We probably need a bit more information about what class of ticket you have. But I think the first issue is that getting a high status without flying is virtually impossible. Status credits, not points, are what determines your level within the Velocity reward scheme. (But I'm not a expert at Velocity or Etihad's FF programmes.)
I had a quick look around the virgin website, and Air France is not listed as a partner airline, so even if you were gold with velocity , you will be flying on Etihad metal, you are effectively flying on an Air France flight so wouldn't be eligible for lounge access.
I'd suggest doing more research in this site to see what credit cards you can get that offer global lounge access (regardless of class/airline)
Of course if you are flying business or above, then lounge access is a given at most ports.
I don't know anything about priority pass, or where they have lounges. There are sections of these forums that could likely supply that information. Before joining, you should definitely talk to virgin directly to make sure that you cannot get in on an air France code

Thanks for feedback...Virgin gold would be achievable as I have a few flights before then but it sounds like the air france ticket may scupper it...
