Hello folks, just wondering if anyone knows when American Airlines will offer one of its good deals on purchasing their frequent flyer points?

I usually top up my points around the New Year. They typically offer good deals for a couple of weeks before and after Dec 31 (80% bonus this year).
Occasionally it happens mid-year as well, but I don't know whether there is a consistent pattern.

I am sure there must be analytics out there on this, but I have never quite been clear on when it would be worth taking advantage of one of these deals.

With the poor availability, phantom space (particularly QF) and "enhancements" of last year, 125% bonus is where it starts getting competitive. Might happen with the new US Airways lite scheme.
