QF 12 and QF 16 On Time Departure Performance

QF 12 JFK to LAX and QF 16 LAX to BNE appear to have an appalling on time record.
VH OEG scheduled to operate  QF 16 LAX-BNE on the 2nd June spent 6 hours on the ground after arriving from JFK as QF12.
This delayed the departure of QF 16 by 4 hours 30 minutes.  QF12 and QF94 to SYD and MEL respectively  appear to operate as per schedule.
Why does this happen?

QF12 isn't much better. 


Search the history on flightradar24.com - 

In my experience, the aircraft used for QF12 flips to QF16. So any delays getting out of JFK tend to compound the on-time performance of QF16.
