I like that past articles are often updated as new, verified information comes to hand - for example the article re the Qantas London Heathrow lounge revised opening date.
The article was originally published (I assume in Feb '16) and today shows 37 comments.
My thoughts were:
Could updated articles be tagged or colour coded - like the blue community tag that I can see on the homepage so as to indicate the article is an update?
Could previous comments be collapsed to a hyper-link that says "click here to read earlier comments". For example, the article I mention above has 37 comments - but only 5 relate to the updated information...
