The Royce Melbourne unveils dramatic transformation

Motorists travelling south from Melbourne CBD along St Kilda Road will no doubt be familiar with The Royce Hotel. It’s a local landmark – a former prestige car dealership turned luxury hangout, built in 1928 in a mix of Spanish Mission and Art Deco styling.

Following a two year restoration and refurbishment, The Royce is ready to reopen on February 1, with its dapper new look intended to bring ‘the golden age of hospitality back to the city’. Those who’ve stayed in the past will barely recognise it.

Guests can greet each morning with gusto in the hotel's beautiful restaurant.

Originally home to Rolls Royce Melbourne, the transformed boutique hotel will welcome guests via an illuminated porte cochère alongside a plush, glass-walled lobby – set in the display hall of what was once the original Rolls-Royce car showroom.

Dotted with plush navy blue, royal purple and tan leather lounges, the space exudes elegance with a sweeping curved staircase and grand Art Deco-style chandelier, in addition to a curved marble fireplace rising 14-metres high.

The bar will offer an array of spirits, cocktails and all-day British fare.

A 24 hour concierge will also be on hand to help guests get the most out of their stay.

Echoing the facade’s singular aesthetic, none of the hotel’s 94 rooms will be the same, with highlights including 18 spacious suites and six two-storey loft suites.

Many suites will also boast freestanding baths for an added palatial touch.

Soft leather upholstery, restored original cornices lining the ceilings and white Italian Carrera marble bathrooms with hand-cut glass alcoves are just a tease of what awaits inside.

Beyond the rooms, The Royce will keep guests satisfied with a chic French-inspired restaurant and adjacent conservatory, in addition to a nine-metre Showroom Bar where guests can partake in some British bites and clandestine drinks well into the night.

Striped awnings give The Conservatory a decidedly French feel.

When complete, guests will be able to soak up the sunshine, cocktail in hand, at the hotel's outdoor terrace – equipped with heated floors and seats to keep the pampering going through the cooler winter months.

Complementing two spaces designed for private events, there will also be three separate boardrooms – making The Royce “the ultimate place for both indulgent weekends away or an overnight business stay”.
