Rydges Perth to become the InterContinental Perth hotel

The Rydges Perth hotel will disappear from GHA’s property map in 2017, at which time the InterContinental Perth hotel will emerge following a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing property.

At 240 rooms, the hotel is nestled amongst the city’s top business and leisure facilities including the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre, His Majesty’s Theatre and the city’s eclectic and vibrant dining scene.

Mixing ‘residential luxury’ with ‘business efficiency’, guests will have the right facilities to work in their own rooms, in the business centre or over a glass of wine in the Club Lounge – such as high-speed Internet access in all three locations.

For larger gatherings such as functions and business meetings, there’ll also be a boardroom and a number of smaller meeting rooms.

The hotel will also have a combined bar and restaurant that caters to both Australian and international tastes, with guests able to earn and redeem points through the IHG Rewards Club loyalty scheme.

InterContinental Perth will be IHG’s third property in the city, joining Holiday Inn Perth and Crowne Plaza Perth.

Good lord - this building has had so many re-incarnations. Started out as the Flotta Lauro building when going to and from Europe by ship was in vogue, with the windows supposedly representing portholes on a Lauro Line ship. Now Intercon?? It wsill need a HUGE make-over. I'll be very interested to see the finished product.
