I work for a tech company that specialises in this kind of technology. Overseas airports have been doing this for years, as have local Westfield's, RSLs and Casinos.

I fly almost monthly, but I only ever bother with wifi on long haul flights. The rest of the time I just read a book or listen to music.

Personally, I loved EY! However since I've moved from Sydney to Perth, I can no longer fly EY (EY recently stopped flying to/from Perth.) I've now made the switch to Singapore Air, which have a much better J product.

I learnt this the hard way when I moved house in NSW. They wouldn't let me sign up to a new contract, instead they sent me over to Red Energy.I shopped around and around and found a better option with another provider. It was good while it lasted.

If the flight is from the east coast to Perth, then yes you will get a meal. Otherwise it's a pretty lame snack service.
