QF/AA status runs - has anyone done an American Airline mileage run to get QFF status credits? What are suggested routes? (travel in November)

Have never done a run... I have however done some non-direct routings to and from some carefully selected destinations.
If purely after Status Credits, the best bang for buck are AA YUP/KUP fares that are instant upgrades to First. There are plenty of other forums with suggestions and they change on a regular basis as AA changes its fares but generally starting in a non-hub city will provide good results, as will looking towards the islands to the south

The idea of purely a status run is hard to justify to me personally... but I have briefly looked at tying it in to a few days / week in some Carribean island... tough life.

Apart from the extra SCs that AA First class tickets provide for a good price, the real value for flying F with AA is if you've got a very long wait an an airport that has an AA Flagship Lounge. Their Flagship lounges are not as good as our QF Flounges, but they're pretty good with big soft lounge chairs, good food, good drink selection, power outlets, wifi, etc.
I recently had such an experience at LAX, where I used the AA Flagship lounge in T4 for 4 hrs, then took the airside bus to the TBIT where I waited in the OneWorld Flounge for an hour. The difference was a big surprise, with the OW full as a goog - no seats left (and pretty basic seats too), little food left, and all power outlets in use. Only good thing was that they had some Glenfiddich. I should've taken the advice of the AA angels and stayed there - they warned me that the OW lounge would be full.
