I personally use point's for international buisiness class award flights ,as it is better value .a buisiness class ticket to purchase is normally up to 3 or 4 times the economy ticket price ,where as using points or miles it is only double,hence better value .but at the end off the day it your choice.CX is a great airline to use your point's on.enjoy!!
Yep, I agree that. My consideration is whether to use it for such a short flight, or a long-haul like hkg to aus. Although, the seat availability is a big issue if aiming on long-haul.

For the date I want to travel, it's currently at HKD 6,738.00, so that's approx 52k = HKD 5888, which is 0.11 HKD per point.
Today's xe is 1AUD = 7HKD, so that's about 1.6 cents.

Try to book as far forward as you can when booking award BC seats,,this betters your chances ,and check often as it can change day to day
